English Tuition
Alongside Wonder River, I also offer personalised English tuition for upper Key Stage 2, Key Stage 3, GCSE and A Level students, including home-educated young people.
Sessions are tailored to the individual and may focus on reading, writing, English Language, English Literature, Common Entrance, scholarship preparation, or GCSE and A Level study. Whether a student is seeking greater challenge, improved attainment, preparation for entry to a competitive school, or increased confidence in English, my aim is to help them become confident, thoughtful and independent learners.
Support is available for a wide range of needs, from developing core literacy skills and a love of English to preparing for examinations, interviews and scholarship assessments. Every session is built around a strong, supportive relationship, helping students discover their strengths and develop the confidence to succeed both within English and beyond.
English Teaching Experience
I am a fully qualified English and Games teacher (BA, MA, MEd (Educational Leadership), PGCE, QTS, CELTA), and have spent the past twenty years teaching English in the classroom and Games on the sports pitches.
My most recent roles have been Head of English for the past twelve years and Head of Year 8 for the past seven years at Moulsford Prep School in South Oxfordshire. Previous responsibilities have included Head of Scholars and Head of Drama.
Before this, I taught at Taunton School, working with students across Key Stage 3, GCSE, A Level and the International Baccalaureate, following the completion of my PGCE at Warwick University.
Alongside my professional experience, I am also a home-educating parent and the founder of Wonder River.

Free English YouTube Lessons
Every Wednesday during term I will be offering free 45 minutes English YouTube lessons.
These sessions will be aimed at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, and will follow different topics in each teaching block.
The first block will be an introduction to poetry, hoping to make poetry more accessible and engaging for all.
A link will appear here in the week before the first session, which will take place on Wednesday 9th September from 13.00 to 13.30.
All welcome to attend!
